Ritter in D.C.

I read a story that stated that our Governor Ritter was met by protesters in Washington D.C. holding two separate fundraisers for his reelection campaign.

The main part of the story was that he was met by protesters of two different labor unions. That is important, but what I want to focus on is: Why is Gov. Ritter in Washington D.C. asking for money for his reelection?

This happens all the time and it is getting real frustrating. A politician goes somewhere else to collect money for his campaign. Not his constituents. This gives me a lot of grief because I think that our Governor should beholden to his own constituents not to D.C. lobbyists, Hollywood Elite, or any other "big money" group.

I wonder who is paying for the trip? I wonder who is donating the money to the Governor and what they expect in return for that money?

I think maybe it might be time to look at our campaign finance laws and see if we can make a few adjustments. For instance allow campaigns to only collect money from a Colorado resident or Colorado based business. These are groups of people that have an interest in what happens in Colorado, not some outside lobbyist or group.
