America - A Nation of Immigrants

I was pondering the decision in Arizona regaruding the new Arizona law that was at least partially struck down this week. What bothered me most was the protests and the Mexican flag flying. I can understand if you do not agree with the law, if you feel it is not the states place to make immigration decisions. Amrica is a free country and we are free to disagree. Personally I agree with SB1070, as it was written, I think the federal government should not turn away any help they can get from anywhere. What I don't understand is why would anyone insult and reject the American flag thus rejecting the American people?

Here is a note to those immigrants who want to be here, both legal and illegal:

Why would you sully a place you seek to be a part? Isn't that a lot like peeing in your own kitchen? We clothe you, feed you, give you health care, teach your children, protect you from violence, and you turn your back on us, and you raise a flag of another country. We offer you opportunities and you spit in our face.

Because we are Americans, we will continue to offer you a chance at the freedom we enjoy. We till take your strife and turn a cheek to your insults. We are not racisist or xenophobic, we are a caring and giving country of immigrants. Most everyone's families living in the United States today, came from another country. They worked hard and tried to achieve the "American Dream". They learned the language, studied our laws, learned our history, and became productive residents of this country. Some even took the extra effort to become citizens of the land that they grew to love.

I believe that if it were possible Americans would rather have a whole world of people that live the way of life that we have, our freedoms, our choices. Because we can't do that; for a multitude of reasons, we have to have a system of laws that protect what we have, our land and our freedoms. Otherwise we will have nothing to give anyone else. If you seek to be an American, you can be an American. You have to put up the effort, stand in line and put down the Mexican flag. We don't want you to lose your culture, varity of cultures is what makes Americans unique. We want you to assimilate. Learn our laws and obey them. We want you to be part of the greatest country on earth, you just have to make the first step.

These head lines shout an answer to our economic woes in my view. If you fix the problem on the boarder you fix our current depression...yes I said it ...depression... even though no one else will for another year or two.

You see there are at least 10 million illegal immigrants in this country and 14 million legal Americans without jobs, do you see the correlation? The liberal thinking is that Illegals do the jobs Americans will not do, maybe its because Americans do not have the chance to do those jobs. It might be that our "leaders" think that unemployment checks are a job creators. Maybe it's because because of an unsure economy and value of the dollar, US business are shipping our jobs overseas.

No matter which one of these issues you look at they all seem to be pointing at the border. I know that the President has a busy golf schedule but maybe he could spend a little time in the Southwest and see the problem for himself.

I know that Obama likes the "new deal" approach to repairing the economy, so how about a massive public works project, that has already been authorized by Congress? Build the boarder fence. That would create a few jobs don't you think? We have millions out of work and a fence that has not been built. The solution sounds easy to me. In the Presidents speech the other day he said: "There are those who argue that we should not move forward with any other elements of reform until we have fully sealed our borders," he said. "Our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem only with fences and border patrols. It won't work."

So what the the President is telling us is; that the American people cannot build a fence because it is "just to big" so we shouldn't try. Mr. President how about this list of things that were "to big" for Americans to do:

1) Separate from the largest most powerful country in the world and become an independent nation.

2) Defeat the most powerful nation in the world for a second time within 40 years (War of 1812).

3) Build a transcontinental railroad.

4) Traverse and settle all the land west of the Appalachia mountains.

5) Reunite a nation at odds with it's self and while doing that, abolish slavery.

6) Build the Panama Canal.

7) Become an industrial giant throughout the world.

8) Defeat the Germans in a major world war.

9) Defeat the Germans (again) and the Japanese in another World War.

10) Build the Tennessee Valley Authority.

11) Build great works like: Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Hoover Dam, World Trade Center.

12) Build an assembly line process that revolutionized the world of production.

13) Went to the moon in less than 10 years after goal was set.

14 ) Built and maintained an Interstate Highway System.

15) Landed a vehicle on Mars and explored.

16) Created the most powerful military in the world and freed many countries from oppression.

17) Built and maintained the greatest economy in the world.

18) Discovered electricity and created an electrical grid.

19) Invented telephone and created telephone system.

20) Invented Internet. (Just ask Al Gore)

21) Invented barbed wire.

This is only 21 events of hundreds more. Mr. President I think we are more than qualified to build a damn fence!

Time to Catch Up

A week ago or so, I tried to lift a lawn mower to a place I needed to mow. About 3 seconds into the operation, I was reminded I am not 20 anymore and have been kinda "gimped up" for a spell. Now I'm going to try to catch up on all the news I've been missing, thanks for your patience...


Obama vs. Brewer

After blowing off Brewer since Arizona passed their immigration legislation, Obama decides that he can meet with Jan Brewer, Governor of Arizona and blow her off in person. I just hope that Governor Brewer doesn't want a job in the administration because it appears that the White House is hiring.........

White House vs. Senate Contenders

If you run happen to be a Democrat and be running against a Democrat Incumbent for Senate it appears that you might be getting a call from Rahm Emmanuel (Or a visit in the shower) and be offered a "job" in the administration. Ahhh Chicago politics...Richard J. Daley would be proud.

Plug the Damn Hole!

As a concerned President, Obama sent a bunch of engineers and oil men to the Louisiana coast to help plug the drill hole leaking into the gulf.....ahem....excuse me .....I guess he sent lawyers...so never mind.

Grand Junction "Listens"....

The City of Grand Junction had a "listening tour" about building a new police/fire station that was voted down by the public a couple of years ago. I hope they got their money's worth because it cost $1,000 a head to hear what those 41 people had to say...

Maybe next time you give a high school kid a hundred bucks and have him walk around the mall with a tape recorder and ask questions, might have a better result.

Evidently we allow any Tom, Dick or Felipe onto the United States House of Representatives floor to talk. What gives this two bit politician, from a third world country the right to come to our Capitol Building and admonish our citizens and our laws?

This idiot has NO right to scold us for our laws, in our land, while he can not police his own country. His country is ruled by murderous drug dealers and thieves. Tell me Mr. President Calderon, why do all your people want to come here in the first place? You figure that one out and we won't have a problem.

As for Congress....

If you watch the video, half of the room stood up and applauded a foreign leader criticizing our country. That half should be fired. The half that sat in there and listened to the garbage spouted by Phil the Wonder President, should have taken their message a step further...They should have walked out of the room.

As for our President, who hasn't read the immigration law in Arizona either, you are a coward, You should stand up for your country, or just pack your bags and head off to Mexico. Just think of all the community organizing you can do there.

Just in case you were wondering, here is the United States Code on immigration that our government has refused to enforce, and the people of Arizona are going to enforce....

Search 8 U.S.C. § 1325 : US Code - Section 1325: Improper entry by alien

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration
officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first
commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or
imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

(b) Improper time or place; civil penalties
Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of -

(1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or

(2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection.

Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.

(c) Marriage fraud

Any individual who knowingly enters into a marriage for the
purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be
imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or fined not more than
$250,000, or both.

(d) Immigration-related entrepreneurship fraud
Any individual who knowingly establishes a commercial enterprise

for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws

shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined in accordance

with title 18, or both.

Arizona to inforce immigration law

The Governor of Arizona signed the bill that enforces the immigration law in Arizona, yesterday. The one thing I can say is YEPPY! A group of politicians want to actually enforce the law, that is unusual this day and age.

The law highlights...

A) It will require anyone whom police suspect to be here illegally to produce proof of citizenship (green card).

B) Prohibits the impeding of traffic to pick up day laborers.

C) Prohibits employing illegal aliens, fines employers big.

Why would anyone be opposed to enforcing the laws of this country? Well lets go over the arguments against the law....

A) "laments that Arizona lawmakers and the executive branch didn't take into account immigrants' contributions - economically, socially and culturally."
"The criminalization isn't the path to resolve the undocumented-immigration phenomenon," the statement added. That is a statement from the Mexican Government.

I think that the Arizona lawmakers did take into account the economic, social, and culture issues that illegal immigrants bring (ie: drugs, murder, hospital overcrowding, spending public monies, etc). Not all the Mexican culture is bad but let's weed out the criminal culture that is what the law is doing. By the way "Mexican government" you also say "criminalization is not the answer"....to late, it is already a crime to come into this country illegally.

B) "This is the most reprehensible thing since the Japanese internment," said Alfredo Gutierrez, a former state senator and community leader. "This is the saddest day for me. It's shameful."

When the Democrats interned the Japanese during World War 2 that truly was shameful, because the Japanese did not break the law....Illegal Mexicans on the other hand....

C) “Governor Brewer caved to the radical fringe,” a statement by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund said, predicting that the law would create “a spiral of pervasive fear, community distrust, increased crime and costly litigation, with nationwide repercussions.”

If the "radical fringe" is hardworking American (Arizona) citizens and legal Mexican immigrants then yes she caved to them , that is why she is paid.I think the fear of being murdered, the distrust of kidnappers and the crime that is already being committed by illegal aliens deserves action by a government. The federal government isn't doing anything.

D) Speaking at a naturalization ceremony for 24 active-duty service members in the Rose Garden, he called for a federal overhaul of immigration laws, which Congressional leaders signaled they were preparing to take up soon, to avoid “irresponsibility by others.”

The Arizona law, he added, threatened “to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe.” B. Hussein Obama

The setting of his speech is terribly wrong in this situation. He is speaking before a group of LEGAL soldiers who are being naturalized, and he is talking about fairness. These soldiers have went through the steps to become citizens, unlike the illegal people in Arizona. So who is being fair? Who is is being irresponsible? The federal government that is who is unfair. Allowing for this travesty to occur for a century, and doing nothing. If you are a legal citizen of Arizona (and the Untied States) and happen to be Mexican I believe you would rather have to show proof of citizenship they being threatened by drug cartels or murdered on their own land. So who do you want it fair for, B.H.O.,the people in this country ILLEGALLY?

This is a good law enacted by a state in this country that is under siege from illegal immigrants, with a federal government which refused to do anything to help the situation. What else are they supposed to do? I guess the answer from the President is that it is better to be illegal.

Immigration on the Western Slope

It has been quite some time since I wrote about the topic of immigration reform. I read that the Colorado Immigrations Rights Coalition has opened an office in Montrose, so I thought it time to state or restate my position on immigration.

First off, I like immigration. My forefathers came to the U.S. from Germany, Ireland and Russia. Bringing with them their culture, food, and traditions. They came to the United States, they learned our language, they shared their traditions and culture and learned the traditions and cultures of other Americans.

The difference between the mass immigrations between 1850 and 1910 and the immigrations of today is all the immigrants in days of old, came in the front door of America, not sneeking in the back door.

Immigrants of the day had difficult problems to deal with, just as much as immigrants of today. They were discriminated against and they did the "jobs Americans wouldn't do". They worked hard to get into this country. They worked hard to learn the language. They worked hard to pass the tests required to be come a citizen of the United States.

The current immigrants from Latin American countries seem to think that they are "owed" citizenship because they went through all the difficulties of breaking the law to get into this country. What? We want to reward lawbreakers with citizenship? How does that work?

Let's say a man steals a car. Because he had such difficulty stealing the car, should we should be rewarding him with a Rolls Royce? That is insane. You don't reward illegal activity. We needn't give away the citizenship of greatest country of the world. Citizenship is not a prize. You have to earn it. To become a member of the greatest country of the world you have to make the effort, do the work.

So if this Colorado Immigrations Rights Coalition has been put in Montrose to help legal immigrants in becoming legal citizens, I will support them all the way.

But if this Coalition's main interest in granting citizenship to millions of criminals, then let me be the first on the Western Slope to suggest setting up an ICE station next door.

Our fault again.....

Because another government can not control the crime happening in their streets, it's out fault. Evidently the American people supply 90% of the guns used in Mexico and purchase all of our drugs there (does that mean that capitalism works?), which causes all the problems the Mexican people are having with the Border Wars.

First off I don't believe the statistic that we supply 90% of the guns. When any government tells you 90% of anything, it is wrong. The people that have the guns are criminals, do you think they might have stole them? Naa, that is to easy.

Second I am pretty sure we are not the only customers of Mexican drugs. I would bet that their are a few Mexicans that use drugs, how about Canadians, and other customers in countries south of Mexico? I would even guess that some of the 12 to 20 million Mexican criminals that broke into our land, use some of those drugs.

Now because we (Obama Administration) says it is all our fault that the Mexicans have a drug war, there will be large sums of money transferred from the nearly empty American coffers to that of the corrupt Mexican government. Great idea huh?

I have got an idea, this may be new to some, why doesn't the Mexican government spend our money securing their northern border, so none of those guns come into their country. Then maybe we could spend a like amount, securing our southern border to help stop the flow of illegal drugs and people from coming into the USA. That would just be to easy now wouldn't it?
