Murkowski, Castle, and Lohan

You might be asking yourself; what does Lindsay Lohan have in common with Lisa Murkowski and Mike Castle? I guess you can call this; the losers blog post. The difference is Lohan created her loses by drinking and Murkowski and Castle were drunk with power.

I normally don't like to delve into the "pop culture world" to much because people in the "pop culture world" stand out as lacking many morals or ethics and I would need 100 of Glenn Beck's chock boards so I could keep up with the happenings. I just think that Lohan's latest antics are very similar to the antics of today's politicians.

Lindsay Lohan recently settled a lawsuit over this commercial:



She claimed that she was being portrayed as the "Lindsay baby" in the commercial. Are we guilty much? According to E-Trade representatives there are 250,000 girls named Lindsay in the United States. I would be willing to bet that there is more than one Lindsey that is a "milk-a-holic". I sure hope that the settlement was E-Trade telling Lindsay that if she doesn't drop the lawsuit that they would drag her name through the mud for the next 5 years.

Murkowski and Castle are similar because they are just as spoiled as Lindsay Lohan. They didn't win their respective elections so they pout and cry and hope they get their way. All of them need to face the facts, they are losers, now move on.

During her trial Lindsey had the words F*** U painted on her fingernails. What I believe was a message to the judge hearing the case.

The similarity between Lindsay, Murkowski and Castle are that Murkowski and Castle said F*** U, to their judge...their constituents. The judges in all the cases did what they thought was right...sent them away.

After Lohan was convicted of her second DUI she acted surprised like she had done nothing wrong. Castle and Murkowski also acted surprised when their constituents "convicted" them of being RINO's.

After Lindsay Lohan failed her mandatory drug/alcohol test she returned to jail (although for a short time). Murkowski and Castle (if he decides to run, which is thought to be likely) will return to their respective states after their write-in campaigns are failures.

My whole point is this: Castle and Mukowski need to realize they lost. Their constituents are not going to put up with their RINO ways. The first step in A.A. is to admit you have a problem and you need help. Well I think it is time for all three to take that first step.

Somehow in our current culture, failure has been thought of as a bad thing. I do not believe that is true. Failure is just a step towards success. Albert Einstein once said: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

Party Politics and IRV

The election in the 23rd Congressional seat in New York got me thinking about party politics. On one hand Newt Gingrich supports the RINO (Republican in Name Only) and Sarah Palin supports the Conservative party candidate. I respect both people but I tend to lean the way of Sarah, but quite frankly it doesn't matter what I think, I live in Colorado's third Congressional district.

What the controversy does highlight is the idea of third party candidate. I really like the idea of at least three political parties and not two. The reason is because the third party is like a check on the other two parties. When I worked in a laboratory, as a check on ourselves, we used to send our lab samples to three independent laboratories. If you send them to just two laboratories and they both had different answers, how would you know which one is correct?

A problem that we never encountered in the laboratory, that does occur in politics, was a limited electorate. What I mean is if a voter selects a candidate, that takes away from another candidate. So if you had two parties that lean in one direction, they will "split the vote" and will cause the candidate that is "wrong" to win the race.

I like the idea of an instant runoff voting (IRV) that the folks in Aspen use in thier elections. This is where you rank the candidates and the highest ranking candidate wins. This also gives third parties a chance. Here is a video explaining IRV...



For now I guess, I am going to have to stick with the Republican Party and try to fix the party (as Ronald Reagen suggested), even though I do not agree with the current leanings of the Republican party of "Democrat Light". I really do not like the Democratic party and how liberal they have become, and the path they are taking this country. I think that Republicans are trying to do the same thing (just at a slower pace), I will have to vote Republican and maybe I can make a difference in the primary elections. For now it is a necessary evil. I guess we now know why George Washington warned about party politics in his farewell address.

RINO no more!

Finally after 30 years, Arlen Specter finally admits he is a Democrat. It has been a long time coming he has been voting like a Democrat for 30 years and now he can have that official D placed behind his name. Now maybe Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe will do the same thing and we can get back to conservative principles in the Republican party.
Specter says the party is moving too far right. As for me the party is moving too far left. I think it is a blessing to get the dead weight out of the party, so we it can become the conservative party that Ronald Reagan envisioned.

To the Honorable Senators from Maine and Pennsylvania,

You might as well officially defect from the Republican Party, you have been acting as Democrats for years and when the chips are down you turn to the Democrats, so it really is no loss to the Republicans. When we NEEDED your support to block the Stimulus Bill you took the cowardly way out. It appears now that the United States Senate is truly filibuster proof.
