Four is the information that the Census Bureau will receive from me, once they start their Census next year. That is the grand total of the number of people living in my home.
Why do I state this rather benign information....I am just so happy to report, that I have been selected to participate in the Census Bureau's Annual Survey. Oh boy, what a joy.
I understand what the founding fathers were looking for when they wanted to count everybody in the country every 10 years to apportion the the correct amount of Representatives to Congress. It is so, logical they made it Constitutional.
What I do not understand is why the Census Bureau wants to know, how many people in my family rode to work in a car last week, or some of these other following questions:
What type of building do you live in?
When was it built?
Am I in the military?
What are you HOA dues?
What is my race?
What is my income?
What is education?
What time of day do I go to work?
And many, many, more similar questions. I live in this country to be free from such scrutiny and I WILL NOT play their game. It isn't their damn business.
To date I have received two complete survey forms and numerous telephone calls regarding this survey. I actually talked to the people at the Census Bureau and asked them "Is this the 2010 Census?" "No" was the answer I received.
I told the operator that "I would not participate in their survey, but thank you for offering." She came back with "It is a REQUIREMENT that I participate in the survey." My retort was "I didn't remember seeing that requirement listed in the Constitution, and until you can tell me where in the Constitution that is, I will not participate, thank you." then I hung up.
Now today I had received a call again from the Census bureau, unfortunately I just got 1/2 a message on who to call and referenced a "Case number". Hummmmm, they have made a case out of this now! They have made a case of me choosing not to participate in their survey. Goodness gracious, do they not have anything better to do, than hound me about something I do not wish to do? What is the cost of this survey? Why is the government spending good money chasing me around for my information? I bet they could find somebody that lives on my block that would be willing to take their survey and it would be a whole lot cheaper than bugging me.
