Monica Marquez

Whew, with the news that Monica Marquez was appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court, I realize that I don't have try to be the "Most successful" in my high school class anymore. She just made a leap into the "Most successful" slot that would be hard to knock off. Now, if I actually went to the class reunions, I could gain a bunch of weight and wear sweat pants and not have to lie about being the inventor of the Internet. Glad that weight is off my shoulders.

As for the actual choice as Supreme Court justice, I have to see what happens. She was appointed by a liberal Governor but is endorsed by our Republican Attorney General. She has not been a judge so we have no opinions to see how she will serve. I think it will be a wait and see game. What about her gay lifestyle? As long as she follows the Colorado Constitution in her rulings, I could care less.

Even though we were part of the same graduating class, I can not offer any special insight. I actually had to get out the year book to remember what she looked like. I guess that is what happens when one student spends her time studying and the other spends his time working and partying. Congratulations Monica. I will pray for your success.
