If you have ever read my profile (on right side of the blog) you see "I loved my History and Government classes with Mr. Moon but got so involved in what he was saying that I never took notes and ended up with a D in both classes."
I found out today that same Mr. Moon, had passed away last month. Mr. Moon was my teacher at GJHS. He was most definitely my favorite. I looked forward to going to his classes and I took every class one of his classes, I was able to take. He was a lecture and test kind of teacher. I loved to sit listen to him as he told the stories of History, Politics and Economics.
In one particular class the topic was wasteful government spending. He told about how when he started teaching (15 or 20 years prior) that he had wrote to get a single copy of the Congressional Record, to use as an example in his classes. For those who don't know what that is; the Congress is required, by the Constitution, to record all their actions while in session. These are published daily and are about 100 to 500 pages long. Instead of Mr. Moon receiving one copy to use as a teaching aid, Mr. Moon received the Congressional Record everyday for years (I can't remember how long exactly, that is my poor, 20 year old memory). Mr. Moon brought politics and history to life every school day for me. He gave me insights to how politics actually worked and how to learn from history, so we do not repeat the mistakes of the past. I am sad to see you go Mr. Moon, my teacher and my mentor.
To the Moon family: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
